Default Useful Internet Browsers and things

Here is a list of useful internet browsers (with links to download them) I will update this whenever a new version comes out. Most of these you will not have a problem viewing any of the cam shows or the the chat room on Babe Chat. I recommend you keep your browser up-to-date to avoid problems. These browsers all work better than Internet Explorer (Especially with Babe Chat and are safer.

    Internet Browsers

    Firefox 3.5 - first recommended

Seamonkey 1.1.17 - kind of like Netscape/Mozilla(original before firefox)

    Flock - Social Networking Favorite

Opera 9.64 - Use if you want to quickly get to different sites (has a speed dial feature basically)

    Flash Player

    Adobe Flash 10.0.22.87

If anyone wants I can add more links to things like good virus protection, flash, etc.

Your links go right to the pages that start downloads, so you may want to include a description of what each thing is.

Is seamonkey one of those little white thingies like semen you keep in a jar of water? Then they grow into societies that worship people and have wars over it like on South Park?

    My setup.

    Firefox 3.5
    NoScript addon

NoScript does what it's titled...it stops all scripts on a page from running, until you let them.

    AVG. Virus scanner. Runs daily.
Malwarebytes.org malware scanner. Run every once in a while.
COMODO Firewall. Keeps the bad stuff from getting in, and more importantly, keeps the bad stuff that's already in, from getting out.
Spybot Search & Destroy with TeaTimer. A scanner that's a lot like malwarebytes, but this offers realtime protection. TeaTimer monitors your registry for changes. Good things to have.
    HiJackThis Google it.

These are all free. I like to have them because I do a lot, a lot, of online shopping, banking, trading. Better safe than sorry.

Hey Pop, I know you didn't ask me, but I'll answer anyway.

Chrome is actually pretty nice. It's built on the same Webkit that Safari runs on so for us Mac users it already has points. It's very very sleek, hardly any distractions from surfing the web. As you can see from the attached screenshot, there aren't even any borders on the window so when it's maximized, you get every last pixel possible.

It's also very fast. It loads babeboards.com faster than any other browser on my PC (but still not faster than Safari on my Mac) as well as most other sites. Works well with sites that have lost of Javascript and Ajax (although, technically, aren't they sort of the same thing?) and has a great import feature that will bring over all your bookmarks, passwords, user ids, etc.

And for those of us that use Google like part of a well balanced diet, searching could not be easier.

For me, I'm still a FF girl at heart on my PC and although I've tried to embrace Chrome and give it a fair shot, I always end up going back. Maybe it's because that's what I've used for years.

    So, in brief...

    Security - Good
    Speed - Awesome
Interface - Nice but takes some getting used to
    Intuitive Features - Great
Compatibility - Pretty good (haven't tried it on webcam yet)

    Hope this was helpful!

Uh... I don 't remember asking YOU.

Just kidding. Thanks for the input... it doesn't sound like I'd be gaining anything with Chrome, especially since I already have a pretty minimalistic setup with FF anyway.

Thanks for posting this, Matt! Very useful information for everyone! I've never used "Flock" before, but I'll definitely check it out.

I tried malwarebytes a couple weeks ago and it's a great free program. I just bought the paid version to it this week that provides real-time updates for even better protection.

One other great spyware/malware protection program I would like to suggest is Super Anti-Spyware. Great program and you don't even notice it running in the background it's so good on your computer's resources.

I've been using firefox for years and love it. It's very rare that I come across a page that won't view in firefox. I've tried google chrome and it's ok, a lot better than IE, but not as good as firefox.

I've been using firefox for a long time now. I like the add-ons you can get for it.
Some add-ons I've got: IE tab, FireFTP, Stumbleupon
Used to use Foxy Tunes, but I don't usually listen to music anymore....

I use Opera for most things, and Firefox for most everything else, but if you absolutely have to have IE interoperability, the following two browsers are perfect clones:

Maxthon - I've used Maxthon instead of IE for years, and have never had a problem with it.

Slimbrowser - this one was recommended to me by a friend who swore by it, so I tried it out - it worked in every way I needed it to.

Trillian- The all-in-one instant messenger program. Log into & chat with your Yahoo, ICQ, AOL, MSN, etc... with one program. Think they even added support for Twitter and other new stuff now.

Digsby - pretty much the same as Trillian but it is updated a lot more and you can use Facebook, Skype, Myspace, etc. and check your email all with one program.

AVG free - a great free virus protection it pretty much catches everything and works great, just make sure to click the links for the free version if you want it.

i love chrome, i love everything googles got going on tho, like google docs, so easy to get to from chrome, and the igoogle page, cause i got hangman on there! These are in no way for performance or anything but its awesome!

I like that google chrome is just set up like a tab, and u can combine all your windows or remove one, and it has a option to search in stealth mode so it wont show up in your history, in case you dont want anyone knowing the amount of porn your looking at....and then how the main page shows which sites you go to most u can just click em and go right to the page, pretty handy.

Been using Firefox for a long time now. I have Opera.. but I have not used it yet. I used to use Netscape.. "yeah I know. " I will never use IE. Not sure if I would ever use Google Chrome. I keep reading about issues with Google tracking everything you search and so on.

    Ok you Firefox experts;

How about a list of your favorite plugins for Firefox and a description of what they do.

Being a noob with FF I don't know what I need and what I don't.

FoxyTunes is a nice little addon for listening to music.
FireFTP is good if you use an FTP
IETab is great for those few pages that don't work in firefox.
StumbleUpon is not Firefox exclusive or anything, but it's a great waste of time!!!! stumbleupon.com
