    Director/writer/producer John Hughes died at age 59 due to a heart attack in Manhattan today.

    The iconic entertainer is known for his string of hits in the 80's and 90's.
    Among those are:
    The Breakfast Club
    Pretty In Pink
    Sixteen Candles
    Mrs. Doubtfire
    Ferris Bueler's Day Off
    Planes, Trains, & Automobiles
    Home Alone 1 & 2
    Career Opportunities

    This sucks, I enjoyed alot of Hugh's work, one of the last good film makers from my childhood, i even liked "I love you Beth Cooper" (yes i was the one who saw it )

    I havent heard this guys name in decades but as soon as he dies, people are talking about him again. Weird how it takes someone dying for them to become relevant again most the time.

    This is too bad. I mean, its not like he was gonna reclaim the glory he had with his iconic movies with any new ventures... but EVERYONE has seen one of his movies, and how many of today's directors were influenced by his formula.

    Sorry to hear of his passing. Breakfast Club was, and still is, one of my favorite movies of all time. It's also still relevant today. Well maybe not the clothes, but the message is.

    Ok the Harry Potter movies and Beth Cooper wasn't him. I thought he had minor involvement cause of Chris Columbus. I'll edit the list.

    In his case though, that was intentional; he walked away from Hollywood at his peak (he continued to write screenplays, but others directed them).

    Chris Columbus and Howard Deutch were both Hughes proteges.
