Default BASEBALL... Help an Aussie out... please?

why do pitchers have or seem to have pitch limits?

why are there no cheerleaders? do the MLB not know about Bryci?

Who should an Aussie support in the MLB?

    1. Because pitchers these days are pussies . . . or, because teams don't want to damage young arms.

    2. Beats me - there should be. Why do you think so many people find baseball boring?

    3. because it's a damn amazing game, even without the cheerleaders.

i said who... not why... the lack of cheerleaders sucks

    Even cricket has cheerleaders now
None of which are hotter than Bryci, Misty Gates or Ariel Rebel

You can support any team you wish, or none at all. It's not like there are any Australian players in MLB for you to root for.

The D-Backs just brought up Trent Oeltjen from the minors. He's a young Aussie from Sydney. In his first major league game last week he hit a home run, had a single, stole two bases, scored a run, and had an outfield assist. Quite a day.

Well, there you go, and Charles is right on top of it too. Hey, if you want to root for anyone in baseball, you might as well get used to the idea that most people root for teams that suck. That's just part of baseball.

Pitching a baseball rather than just throwing one like the other fielders, uses an out of the ordinary throwing motion. Some people would say its all the arm angles to create the torque on pitches that curve, that strains arm tendons more. So they limit pitch count to keep pitcher injuries more limited and have them perform at their best when they go out there again.

No cheeleaders cause they would likely get hit my the baseball unless they were in some sort of enclosed chain link area, where you wouldn't see them very well anyway. And the fans watching them might get hit by the ball when looking away from the game.

And many people root for the team that is closest to them, to support their area or just cause that's who they can see the most. I tend to root for teams based on my favorite players and wherever they end up signing, which would probably be more suited for you since there's no team in your area. Find some players you like seeing when you watch, and root for them. Or there's also fantasy basbeball teams where you pick players you think will get the best stats, and then people root for whoever they picked. The forum's fantasy league this year is almost over, but signup next year.

Some parks do have a "Spirit Squad" that comes out between innings and delays in the games and throws out free T-shirts and such...most likely happens when TV is in commercial is why you never really see them.

Because baseball sucks, and all baseball players look like cops.
Men don't show emotion, except rage, because it takes strength to show soft emotions. Most men don't have that kind of strength. They keep things inside. Then they kill someone.

I know that's the current 'company line', but tell that to Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Bob Gibson, and all those guys who pitched on 3 days reast their entire career's, made 40-50 starts a year, and regularly pitched over 350 innings a year.

They didn't throw as hard as guys today, and generally ran out of juice earlier in their careers. As time goes on, things get more and more scientific, to add to the quality and longevity of the players.

Oh, I don't know about that. They say Gibson threw plenty hard, as did Koufax - and yes, I know Koufax had arm trouble.

Running out of juice? How many years did Walter Johnson pitch? Steve Carlton? Tom Seaver? Nolan Ryan - he sure threw hard, and he came up in a 4 man rotation, no pitch count era.

Guys before came up younger, pitched more, and were just as good, if not better. Part of the reason the days of the 300 game winner are basically over.

I don't disagree with taking care of a guys arm, but inning limits and pitch counts are very arbitrary.

Yes - the beauty of baseball - Cheer the teams that suck, hate the teams that win.
