So i got pulled over and a ticket today on the fucking way to court because i blew through a stop sign. I was trying to text someone and i didn't even see the sign. Am I the only idiot that has ever done this ??

It's a secondary offense now in some states. Even being on your cellphone without a hands-free headset is a secondary offense in NY and CA, I think. Thanks for posting your stupidity.

Cell phones while driving drive me nuts, your attention isn't there like it should be, people who do this put everyone elses lives in danger and it peeeeeeeeeeeves me

I'm an old man, I can barely text while sitting on the couch.

I text while Im driving too, definitely not as much as I used to because it's way harder on my Instinct than it was on my other phones. Still if I am doing it I constantly look to see what's going on, i've never gotten into an accident, hit anyone, or anything else due to texting. I have almost gotten rear ended and side swiped by people on their phones though.

I have to admit that texting someone when you were almost to the court house was pretty stupid, im just glad you or anyone else didnt get hurt.

i actually got rear ended but some hot blonde because she was text dumping her boy friend

It's a PRIMARY offense in NY, CA and CT, actually. You can get pulled over simply for talking on the phone without a headset. A lot of states are trying to make it illegal to text while driving, but I think only one state (Washington, maybe? I don't remember) has actually passed a law. As it is, you can get pulled over for texting under the pretense of driving with a distraction (which a cop could use to pull you over for virtually anything he wanted to—eating, reading, singing along with the radio, etc.).

Just never text when u are driving..especially when u are on your way to court. Only do it when the car is not moving or at a stop sign...though if it is important messages just pull over at the side so u won't get a ticket.

Good thing judges don't have one of those little buttons that opens up a panel in the floor and drops you into a pit full of alligators. At least not in Illinois.

I txt all the time when I drive but usually I hold the phone right by the steering wheel. And Flip phones suck for txting while driving lol. And I almost got pulled over yesterday trying to make a phone call while driving luckly I think the cop was headed home so he didnt care what I was doing lol.

Next time pull over and text me or wait til your stopped dork I'll admit to to texting a driving a little as well as talking on the phone too, but I live in the middle of nowhere and stops signs are far in between. Yes I know that's no excuse to do it either!

I always wonder why I always go through Walmart, TJ Maxx, a Burger King, a daycare, and CVS instead of staying on the road. I figure someone was stupid and built them in the middle of the interstate for some reason.

its just a habit and i have always done it and this is the first time it has affected my driving, i learned a lesson

If it were up to me, anyone who texts while driving would have their licenses taken away permanently as they clearly do not possess the requisite level of common sense necessary to operate a deadly machine.

What could be soooo important that it can't wait until you have either reached your destination, or you have pulled over to have your conversation? Is the time you save worth your own life, or more importantly, the lives of your passengers or others on the road?

I am shocked that damn near everyone in this thread has done nothing but drive while behind the wheel. Not one of you has been guilty of eating, putting on makeup, taking a phone call, kissing your loved one, changing your radio station, looking for a song on ur ipod, drinking a pop, yelling at kids in the backseat, looking at billboards or scenery or the hott chick in the car next to you.... All of which takes your attention off the road and puts peoples lives at stake.

If you can honestly say that you are 100% attentive ALL OF THE TIME while operating a moving vehicle then I applaud you.

He who hasn't sinned shall cast the first stone..... I see alot of people chastising in here but I really wonder who is not guilty of doing these things and more while driving.

are you suggesting that if 2 cars collide head on while traveling a decent rate of speed, there won't be injuries and possibly deaths?

so it would be a more acceptable PSA if only 3 people in the simulation died and only 1/2 of the glass shattered?

oh no I'm not saying I don't do other things behind the wheel. hell I drove about 65 miles the other day I slept through.
I've read wrote picked crap out from under my nails, gotten head looked through my ipod for tunes etc, but I am not too into cell phones. I don't text much or talk on the phone PERIOD so driving and texting has never been a problem with me
