Ok this is a bit of a morbid question, but if it came down to either a zombie apocalypse or robots/machines/computers coming self aware and taking over, which would you prefer?

Zombies because they can't hack into your personal info.

Machines. They would probably try to enslave us instead of killing us and eating our brains. Also, you can always cut the power to machines, whereas we wouldn't really know how to defeat zombies.

Plus they would smell better.

Understatement of the year! But considering the year is so new, there is plenty of time for more understatements...

I say zombies. At least they are not super human and like an infection they could be eradicated.

Machines could become so efficient that as fast as we could destroy them they could be making more of themselves, plus they have technology on their side if they are self aware which is harder to fight against.

with a bang not a whimper...i choose the machines.

Definatly has to be Robots. The Robots are getting so smart and can do many things without human input now a days we are bound to give them to much controll, or give them to much AI that they will be able to out think us.

I am assuming the robots have internal power sources and would not just be plugged into the nearest outlet...in that case you have to find the power source and disable it. The robot could be tough to penetrate with anything less than heavy firepower or an [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_pulse"]EMP[/ame].


Now, I think that the way to defeat the zombies would totally depend on the zombies' origin...i.e. virus, voodoo, experimental serum, or water contamination but most zombies seem to be able to be exposed of the same way...You just have to blow the zombies brains out or separate their head from their bodies.

Zombies are slow moving, it should be possible to evade zombies if you are smart about it...stay away from population centers and main roads but make your way to an island in the Carribean....hell, you could block off the bridge south of Homestead, Florida...plus the cutting off the Florida keys may buy us time to create robots that would be able to detect and destroy Zombies while the remaining humans work on rebuilding society..we'd have to make the robots somewhat autonomous because I assume that there will be a shit-ton of zombies to kill and dispose of....and how will all the robots we will have to make be powered...perhaps we could find some way to make the robots be fueled by Zombies in some way....that way the robots will work right up until all the zombies are gone...hopefully the program these robots use will not have a bug or error written into it that suddenly make the robots sentient enough to fear their own demise and adjust themselves to be able to use normal humans for food....man, that would be hella ironic...

You don't have to be a slave to the machines, just have them kill you. If the machines kill you, it's probably less painful than being eaten alive...

I've been training for a zombie attack since I was in my teens, bring em on! I've got an infinite rocket launcher and a ton of first aid spray!

I think i'll go with Robots, not really diggin the idea of zombies eating my brain and stuff....unless it was a Misty Zombie, then I might change my mind. Can I see the zombies first?
