Yeah, scary story... but the author really needs to take a basic science course. "They rushed him to the hospital where it was discovered that Dominic’s blood alcohol content registered at .10, which is over the legal limit for an adult driver."... implying the kid drank as much as an adult to reach .10. It probably only took the kid two or three sips to get to .10. Or she (the author) wanted it to be more shocking for stupid people, much like Jerry Springer does on a daily basis.
