Default Rejoyce!!! The NFL is back!!! YAY!!! (for now at least)

I was hesitant to post this but figured what the hell.

I am sooo fucking happy that the lockout has been lifted. Yes I know that pending the appeal ruling by the NFL, the lockout could be put right back in to place, but fuck it. It gives leverage to the players and forces the NFL to cave in on some of their dumber ideas (This prob would have been settled had the Teams opened up their financial statements to the union, but they refused)

I just can't wait for this season to start already so the Jets can make it right and win the superbowl...

The Lingerie football league just came to Canada... This made me lose all interest in other sports... exept mud wrestling and baby oil wrestling and like sports.

Not so fast my friend. I heard they imposed the lockout again. That sucks! What's even scarier is that the Major League Baseball and NBA basketball has their bargaining agreements coming up in the next 18 months, so there may be problems with all the major sports. I know if any of the sports has a lockout or strike that causes fans to miss any of their games, I think that sport is going to lose a lot of fans and maybe some for life. I know the ticket prices keep rising each year and a strike causing a fan to miss games they normally would want to attend will make them think twice about how they wanna spend that money the next time. I guess at least we all still have college football to look forward to since there won't be any kind of lockout there, but it's still not without scandals (Reggie Bush "USC", Cam Newton "Auburn", and Ohio State's various problems uncovered lately). At least college football is more "pure" than any of the other sports, but still not perfect in any way.

if by "pure," you mean "corrupt beyond imagination," then yes, college football is more pure than any other sport.

Or perhaps your definition of pure is "a chance for students to play football for free so that universities can make millions of dollars from the sweat of their brow." In another arena you would refer to such "pureness" as "slavery."

But, you argue, they are getting a free education. Therefore it isn't slavery at all.

Look at the graduation rates and the level of difficulty of the classes these "student-athletes" take and then compare it to the student population as a whole. I'm confident that for many schools, especially the ones engaged in big-time college football, the numbers for athletes is far lower than those of the student population as a whole.

The difference between college athletics and professional athletics is that at least the professional owners are up front about what is most important, whereas colleges continue to hypocritically claim that they act in the best interests of the students.

    I'm really really happy.
